The Thelma Davis Memorial Scholarship

The Thelma Davis Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of our founder Jacquena Bryant’s late great grandmother. Ms. Davis was an amazing and generous woman. Although, she never attended college she wanted nothing more, then for all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all that came from her to attend college.

Jacquena was the last child Ms. Davis’s raised, and although Jacquena was a  mother at 13, her grandmother never gave up on her. She always told her she was destined for greatness, to be proud of herself and hold her head high. She taught her to never be ashamed of her past but to use it as a testimony for others.

Ms. Davis worked in factories to provide for her family. Ms. Davis was known affectionately to everyone as Nana, she opened her doors and fed not only her children but the neighborhood children. Everyone knew that they would never go hungry as long as she was around.

In honor of Ms. Davis we offer the Thelma Davis Scholarship to continue to help support young women in our community, the way Ms. Davis cared for and supported the children in her community.

It is with great honor and pride that we open up the application period for the second Annual Thelma Davis scholarship.
